These Android Wear Smartwatches Will Get Android Oreo Update

February 12, 2018

Google released the official Oreo update for Android Wear a few days ago. Back then it was not known which watches would receive this update, but we now know it all.

Android Wear Oreo

Slightly more than a week ago, Oreo rolled out for Android Wear watches. There were a number of changes for the user in this update. Firstly, there are again a number of countries that can be set up as regions, Belgium is one of them. The intensity of the vibration pattern that warns the user that a notification is coming in can be adjusted. The notifications themselves can also be better adjusted to the wishes of the user.

When you know that you can not get to a charger for a long time, you can turn on the Battery Saver mode whenever you want. This stops a number of energy-eating functions such as Wi-Fi and location services. Previously you could only activate this mode when the battery was low.

These smartwatches now receive an update to Android 8.0 Oreo

Google has brought out a list of smartwatches that will get the taste of the new Android version. The smartwatches below are currently being updated to Android 8.0.

> Fossil Q Venture

> LG Watch Sport

> Louis Vuitton Tambour

> Michael Kors Sofie

> Montblanc Summit

> Hugo BOSS BOSS Touch

> Movado Connect

> Tommy Hilfiger 24/7 You

> Guess Connect

> Gc Connect

> Fossil Q Founder 2.0

> Fossil Q Marshal

> Fossil Q Wander

> Michael Kors Access Bradshaw

> Michael Kors Access Dylan

> TAG Heuer Tag Connected Modular 45

> Diesel Full Guard

> Emporio Armani Connected

> Fossil Q Explorist

> Michael Kors Access Grayson

For these smartwatches, the update to Android 8.0 is in the making

The second part of the list contains all models for which the update to Android 8.0 will roll out at a later time.

> Casio PRO TREK Smart WSD-F20
> Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch
> Fossil Q Control
> Huawei Watch 2
> LG Watch Style
> Misfit Vapor
> Mobvoi Ticwatch S & E
> Nixon Mission
> Polar M600
> ZTE Quartz

We don’t have a solid timeframe as to when will these devices get the update to Android Oreo. Google recommends that you contact the manufacturer of the smartwatch model.

Which smartwatches do we miss?

On the list above we miss a number of well-known models. For example, Huawei’s first smartwatch will no longer be updated to Android Oreo. Also the Asus Zenwatch 2 and 3, Fossil Q Founder, LG Watch R, LG Watch Urbane (4G) and the Moto 360 and 360 Sport (second generation) will not get Android Oreo. So it seems that every smartwatch from 2015 will be deprived of Oreo. However, they will receive regular updates, but the Android version will remain at Nougat.
