Old classic platformer games were extremely fun to play. I have never felt so much joy playing modern games including graphics intense games such as Battlefield series, COD, or DOTA. Maybe I have grown up and games do not excite me as much as they did in the 90s when I was a kid and video games were something new for me. But still, I still love to play games like Trine, Limbo, Ori and The Blind Forest on PC. I still remember those days and it makes me sad whenever I remember those days when we use to play Pitfall, Felix the Cat, Shinobi, Contra Force, Double Dragon, etc. all night and day.
I am always on the hunt to find and play great platformer games on my Android phone. A recent great find for me is Collect or Die. Today I want to share with you some great platformer games for Android that I have been playing. iPhone users can also find most of these on the Apple App Store. While there are some ports of good old platform games available on the Google Play Store, they are very tough to play due to the poor control scheme. Therefore I have tried to refrain from including those games. I have also included some refreshed versions of the old platform games with improved graphics and control schemes.
Enjoy the best Platformer games available on the Google Play Store and Apple Appstore. We hope you will like them.

Lode Runner 1
Lode Runner 1 is the rebirth of the good old classic platformer Lode Runner game with improved graphics, levels, and touch controls. The idea and the gameplay are still the same, run, climb and blast your way through over 300 new insane levels. A cool new addition is the stage editor using which you can build your own stages.
Collect or Die
Collect or Die is an amazing retro platformer with challenging hardcore levels and dynamic ragdoll physics. Though the game graphics are very minimalistic, the game is a pleasure to look at. The idea behind the game is simple, Collect coins while avoiding the obstacles. Run, jump and dodge your way to complete hundreds of challenging levels.
Badland 1 & 2
You have probably played one or both of these two if you love platform games. If not, you should not wait to download this one, just stop reading and click on the link to download the game. The game comes with simple silhouette type graphics but it looks amazing. The controls are very simple and so is the gameplay but, the game levels are not easy to complete. Badland 1 also comes with co-op multiplayer, includes a level editor and have full support for controllers if you have one.
Limbo is probably the first game to introduce the creepy silhouette type of environment. The game comes with a black and white type of graphics. While it looks like Badland (actually badland looks like Limbo) graphics wise but the gameplay is night and day. While Badland requires a rush to play, Limbo is more like a puzzle game. You have to use your mind to solve puzzles to succeed in the game.
Leo’s Fortune is one of the most beautiful and popular platformer games available on Android and iOS. The graphics of the games are simply amazing and so is the gameplay. The game comes with 24 beautifully designed levels. You have to survive different traps and solve cleverly design physics-based puzzles to succeed in the 24 levels.
Lep’s World 3
Lep’s World is the third installment in the popular Lep’s World Series. It is an award-winning platformer including 120 exciting levels. If you were a fan of Super Mario game back in the 90s, you will love this one too. The game’s gameplay and graphics strongly resemble that of the Super Mario. If you were looking to play Super Mario on Android but Mario Run disappointed you, you should check out this game.
Never Alone: Ki Edition
Never Alone is one of the older puzzle platformer games that has been released in 2014. It is one of the best-looking puzzle platformers on mobile that I have ever seen. Never Alone: Ki Edition brings with amazing graphics, smooth gameplay, beautiful cinematics and an interesting story. You play as a young girl Nuna and her friend Fox as you explore different levels, solve puzzles and fight boss battles. You have to switch between the fox and the girl to pass different obstacles just like Trine on PC. The touch controls are easy to handle and it also supports hardware controller.
Rayman was one of my favorite platformer games in the 90’s and it is still my favorite on Android. There are a number of them released on the Android and iOS platform including the Rayman Classic. All of them are very popular and fun to play. But of them all, I love the Rayman Adventures more and luckily it is free. The graphics, animation, gameplay, everything is world-class. You should check this one out if you haven’t yet.

Another World or Out of This World (as it is known in the US) is another classic platformer game which resembles the original Prince of Persia in many ways. The game is story driven with a sci-fi theme, the graphics are polished but still resembles the classic POP. The difficulty level is high but if you have been playing such games, you will be fine. The game will cost you $3.99 which is a bit harsh there are no IAPs.

The Cave is an interesting Adventure game on Android & iOS in which you assemble a team of three adventurers and descend into the depths of The Cave. The game has a total of 7 characters but you have to choose a team of three using their unique talents to solve the puzzles hidden within three exotic locations. The game is fun to play and graphics are pleasing to the eyes. The Cave will also cost you around $2.99 dollars and there are no In-app purchases.
Bean’s Quest is an excellent 2D platformer game with a retro look and simple graphics. The controls of the game are very simple but the game itself is very challenging. There are 50 levels in the game which are spread over 5 worlds. I still find the game to be a bit short.
Dan The Man
Dan The Man is a new retro style platformer games from the makers of Jetpack: Joy Ride. There are three modes in the game that include a story mode, survival mode, and a battle mode. The game mechanics are simple, avoid obstacles, kill the evil guys, and fight boss battles. The game is free to play with in-app purchases.
Gunman Clive is a unique platformer with a unique type of graphics. The game whole environment seems to be made of sketches on an old yellow paper which gives the game a unique and beautiful look. I love how this game looks. The gameplay is similar to other 2D platformers. The weird thing is there are no checkpoints. Dying at any stage of the game will have you restart at the beginning.
Leap Day is not a sidescroller. In this game, you have to climb up jumping in the air while avoiding the obstacles and traps. The thing I like about the game is that you get to play a different level every day. The game is a good time passer and I love it every day.
Swordigo is an amazing platformer for Android & iOS which let you embark on an epic adventure jumping and slashing your way through different challenges. The game lets you explore dungeons and beautiful towns finding items and weapons, defeating monsters. The game features 3D type graphics easy customizable controls optimized for touch-enabled devices.
Magic Rampage is one of the highly acclaimed platformers on the modern mobile platforms. It is an exciting action-platformer which combines RPG elements with hack ‘n’ slash gameplay. There is something about the gameplay of this game which makes it differentiate from the other listings on this list. It offers character customization and a number of weapons and magic to defeat the evil bosses and their minions.
