Judging from the name, Nokia 8 Sirocco might seem like some more exclusive version of Nokia 8 but the smartphones differ in a lot of things. In fact, the model with the inscription “Sirocco” is a product from the premium shelf.
Just like the Nokia 8, the Nokia 8 comes with a beautiful improved design. Nokia claims that every Sirocco unit is made out of a single block of stainless steel thus very sturdier than phones with aluminum frames. The display is curved on both sides giving the phone pleasant look Just like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Galaxy S9. The phone comes with IP67 certification which means the phone is partially dust and water resistant.
The smartphone is equipped with a pOLED display with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and WQHD resolution. While the bezels have been minimized the display is not 18:9 deviating from the trend. The heart of this model is octa-core (8x Kryo 280) Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with the Adreno 540 graphics chip. The set includes 6 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB of built-in memory (no information about the possibility of expansion).
Nokia 8 Sirocco also has a dual main camera on the back with 12 MP f/1.75 + 13 MP f/2.6 sensors. The secondary lens is a telephoto lens providing 2x optical zoom. The optics are provided by Carl Zeiss just like the rest of high-end Nokia handsets. On the front, there is a 5 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The camera software has also been improved. It now looks like the Lumia Camera software. The Pro mode has also been introduced.
Connectivity in this model is ensured by Bluetooth 5.0 , Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, LTE, NFC , GPS, A-GPS and Glonass and USB Type-C port. There is also a gyroscope.
Nokia 8 Sirocco also features a fingerprint reader for a secure and faster unlock procedure. We don’t know yet if the handset does support Dual-SIM. The smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and draws its juice from a 3260 mAh battery. It is worth adding here that the battery can be charged not only quickly (Quick Charge 4.0), but also wirelessly using Qi standard.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco will go on sale in April 2018. The suggested price was set at 749 euros.
