Xiaomi pushed the smartphone manufacturers to minimize the bezels when it first launched it’s first nearly bezel-less phone, the Mi Mix. Looks like Xiaomi isn’t done with their war against the bezels as the newly leaked Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 prototypes suggests Xiaomi might get rid of the Bezels entirely with its next flagship phone.
While we don’t know if these leaks are real and even if these are real, these are just prototypes, we don’t know if any of these will make it to the final device. No matter if these leaks are real or fake, these prototypes show us a perfect way to get rid of the bezels entirely.
While every manufacturer is trying to make the bezels as minimal as possible there are things such as the earpiece, the selfie camera, the proximity sensor which come in their way. Samsung, LG, OnePlus, Pixel, and HTC left small bezel at the top to accommodate those things. Apple left a notch at the top to accommodate the camera, the earpiece, and the sensors. Xiaomi moved the camera down at the bottom but that is not an ideal position for the selfie cam and still, there is some bezel left.
Now Xiaomi might have figured out the ideal placement for the front camera, the earpiece, and the sensors and it isn’t at the front. As you can see in the gallery below, Xiaomi is allegedly looking for ways to move everything else except the screen to the back of the phone. To make up for the removed selfie cam, Xiaomi is trying to put a secondary screen on the back of the phone just like the Meizu Pro 7 and Yotaphone.
This we think might be the best way to do it. Do web surfing, watch movies, play games on the main display and use the back of the phone to make calls, shoot selfies etc. But, there is still one problem, how do you do the video calling? Yes, you can use the secondary display to see the caller but it might not be as fun as doing it on the main display. Either way, I am very excited about this if these leaks are real.
