We saw the Nokia 3310 4G already coming through at the end of December via the China Compulsory Certification (CCC). However, we had no idea about the specifications of the device until now. Today we have spotted the phone in the database of the Chinese TENAA. This gives us a better insight into what we can expect from this feature phone. The device will probably be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

HMD Global, the license partner of Nokia, launched several smartphones under the flag of Nokia last year. Think of budget phones such as the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3, midrange phones like the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 and its first flagship the Nokia 8. In other words, for every budget, there was a smartphone for sale. HMD, however, not only launched new smartphones. The Finnish company also launched a number of feature phones. The Nokia 3310 (2017) reborn is the best known.

Consumers were enthusiastic. That had everything to do with the nostalgia that the device evokes. Nokia 3310 was first launched in the year 2000 and sold over 126 million times worldwide in four years. The device had a very good battery life and was very robust. If you drop a phone nowadays, you should hope that the screen does not show any cracks. In the past, you had to look if the floor was not damaged.

At the end of September, six months after the introduction of the Nokia 3310 (2017), HMD Global launched a successor with 3G connectivity. At the end of December, we saw another successor, this time with a 4G module. This gives you access to the fastest internet connection you can wish for right now.

Specifications Nokia 3310 4G

The Nokia 3310 4G (TA-1077) has almost the same specifications as its predecessors. That means you get a 2.4 inch LCD display with QVGA resolution of 320 by 240 pixels. Under the hood, HMD Global has installed a 1.5 GHz powerful dual-core processor. In addition, we find 256 MB of memory and 512 MB of internal memory under the hood. That is a lot of storage space compared to its predecessors. For comparison: the first Nokia 3310 (2017) had only 16 MB of memory. The 3G version got 64 MB. This time, as mentioned, you have 512 MB of storage capacity at your disposal or eight times as much memory. You can expand the memory with microSD card up to 128 GB.

The camera again has a resolution of 2 megapixels and has a single LED flash. The FM radio and built-in MP3 player are back again. This also applies to the microUSB 2.0 connection and 3.5 mm audio jack. The battery still has the same capacity of 1200 mAh.  As mentioned, this variant supports 4G networks. This time the device is supplied with an operating system known as YunOS 5.2.0. It appears in the colors Fresh Blue and Dark Black.

Availability

We don’t know anything yet about the availability of the Nokia 3310 4G. We will probably hear more next month at the MWC in Barcelona, the largest smartphone trade fair in Europe. Of course, we also expect a number of new smartphones, including the Nokia 6 (2018) and possibly the Nokia 9. The MWC will take place from February 26 to March 1. The most important announcements take place in the days leading up to the fair. The first hands-on videos appear when the congress starts.
