Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact Leaks, Weird Fingerprint Placement
An alleged image has appeared showing the yet to be announced Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact. These new Xperia devices would have virtually no screen edge on the sides and thin screen edges above and below.
New design for Sony
The rumors were hanging in the air for a while that Sony would come up with a new design for their smartphones and let go of their well-known angular appearance. There are already a lot of renders and pictures of the yet to be announced Sony devices and all have one thing in common, thin bezels. Now we can add a very clear image of the Sony Xperia XZ2, leaked by Evan Blass. The Compact variant will have the same design.
Though the design looks great, the placement of the fingerprint scanner looks a bit odd. Yes, it is on the back of the phone just like many other phones and the back of the phone seems to be the right spot for a fingerprint scanner but the fingerprint in the leaked picture is located very down below the camera. You will have to bend your finger a lot to access that fingerprint scanner.
The trend of thinner bezels and a screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9 has finally also reached the Sony design department. Although the edges above and below are still quite large. The Sony Xperia XZ2 will get a 5.7-inch screen according to the source of Blass and the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact a 5.0-inch version. Both devices are equipped with an LCD screen protected by Gorilla Glass 5, fingerprint scanner, Android 8.0 Oreo and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.
The Xperia XZ2 will be made of 3D glass with an aluminum frame and glossy finish. Colors could be Black, Silver, Green, and Pink. The Xperia XZ2 Compact, on the other hand, would have a polycarbonate casing that will be scratch-resistant.
This would be a 19-megapixel one with an aperture of f/1.8 that is going to be capable of capturing 4K images as well as images in super slow motion. The camera of the Xperia XZ2 Compact differs slightly from this. The XZ2 would also get so-called ‘S Force’ stereo speakers with haptic feedback that will be similar to vibrations in the sound. The battery capacity of the XZ2 will be 3.180mAh, while the Compact will have 2.870mAh. Both will have a USB C connection and the XZ2 will also support wireless charging.
We will have to wait for the press conference till next Monday to see whether the above is true. We are very curious!
