One of the founders of WhatsApp Brian Acton invests 50 million US dollars in the non-profit organization Signal Foundation, which also oversees the development of the secure messenger ‘Signal Private Messenger’.

WhatsApp Co-founder, Brian Acton has made this investment and also becomes chairman of Signal Foundation. Acton has not been working for WhatsApp for a while. He did go to Facebook, which in 2014 took over WhatsApp for an amount of 16 billion dollars. In September of 2017, Acton left to set up a non-profit organization but did not release any details about it.

On the blog of Signal, it is now read that Acton location was referring to nonprofit Signal Foundation, in which he has now invested $ 50 million ((euro 40.7 million) to expand the team in terms of manpower so that the development of the Signal Protocol can be accelerated.

Signal Private Messenger is known for its end-to-end encryption of messages. This means that when you send a message to someone, this message is first encrypted so that it can only be read by the recipient of the message, who has the correct key for it.

The founder of Signal, Matthew Rosenfeld aka Moxie Marlinspike, remains CEO of Signal and will expand his team. Rosenfeld did not take any investments before, for ideological reasons. The development of Signal was fully funded through sponsoring and donations. The nonprofit organization Signal Foundation contributes to this because independence can be retained, but more money can come in to support the development.

Singal Private browser is highly regarded as the most secure messaging service by privacy experts. Singal’s code is open-source and everyone having a knowledge of coding can inspect the code. Signal claims that they store don’t store any of your data on their servers and everything happens strictly between the messaging parties.

Signal Private Messenger can be used to send text, voice, video, document, and picture messages without SMS and MMS fee while keeping everything spoof-proof. It also allows for secure voice and video calls. Signal Messenger is available on various platforms including, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux.
