In London, there has been a big exhibition in the field of education. Not really a place where you would expect a new product from Acer, but nothing is less true because that is where we find the first ever Chrome OS tablet.
Note: The Twitter user Alister Payne who first shared the photo on Twitter has now deleted his post. Maybe his organization made him delete the post or it could be any reason but we now know Acer is working on a tablet running Chrome OS and hopefully, we will see more such tablets or convertibles in the near future.
Chrome OS
Chrome OS, the operating system for laptops from Google, has become increasingly popular over the years. So popular that at a certain point there were rumors that Android and Chrome would go together in an operating system. So far it has not yet happened, but we see that both systems have grown closer to each other. The integration of the Play Store into many Chromebooks is an example of this.
Chromebooks are mainly used in schools and universities. These laptops are a cheap alternative to Windows and Apple laptops and are easy to manage via G Suite. The laptops are also light so that the ‘student’ does not carry a hernia with all that unnecessary technology.
Chrome OS tablet
Until now we only know Chrome OS as the operating system on a laptop, but we have been talking about a possible Chrome OS tablet for some time. That time seems to have arrived because, at an event in London in the field of education, Acer appears to have brought a Chrome OS tablet.
An attendee of the even shared a photo of the alleged Acer Chrome OS tablet on Twitter. This tablet has a size of 8 or 10 inches and has not yet been officially announced by Acer. Chrome specialists ChromeUnboxed say they have been tracking a tablet with the codename Scarlet for a while and everything indicates that this is the concerned Acer tablet. There would also be a stylus of the well-known pen manufacturer Staedtler on this tablet, but we can not see it in this photo.
Availability
This tablet has not yet been officially launched by Acer and we suspect that we will meet it in Barcelona in a month. Perhaps it will be officially announced by Acer.
