The Huawei conference will start today at 14:00. Two days ago we received confirmation that the foldable smartphone Huawei Mate X will also debut during the event. A few hours before the official premiere, however, its photos and partial specifications leaked on the internet.
Huawei Mate X folding mechanism is completely different from Samsung Galaxy Fold. Samsung’s foldable phone has two display, on the front while the other larger display on the inside. The Device folds on the inside while the Huawei device has a single display and folds on the outside.
Once folded, one part of the screen is to have a diagonal of 6.2 inches, while the other is 6.6 inches. In the first case, it is smaller, because on one side there is a quadruple camera module, to which Leica also added its three cents. When unfolded, the display should have a diagonal of 8 inches.
The Huawei Mate X will be powered by an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. The smartphone will come with a 4500 mAh battery. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Fold has a 4380 mAh battery. The device will also offer a dual selfie camera. So there will be six lenses onboard the same as in the folded Samsung smartphone.
As I mentioned, the official release of Huawei Mate X in a few hours. According to unofficial information, the price of the smartphone is to start from $1790. For comparison, the basic version of the Samsung Galaxy Fold costs $ 1980 (and 2000 euros in Europe). The Huawei device will also have a 5G modem on board.
