Google has announced that it will shortly come up with a subscription service for games and apps in the Play Store. The service called ‘Google Play Pass’ will be available soon.
Google Play Pass Release Date Is Near
Earlier this year, Google announced that it was testing Play Pass, now the company seems to be nearly ready for release. Google announced on Twitter that Google Play Pass will be released soon. However, it is unclear when the subscription service for apps and games will be available exactly, but it looks like we don’t have to wait much longer.
Google Play Pass seems to be rival Apple Arcade which is scheduled to be released this fall. The service will give you access to selected Android games and apps, which are normally paid for.
Stardew Valley and Limbo normally cost $7.99 and $4.99 in the Play Store will be available for free as suggested by the leaked screenshots below. Play Pass is said to cost $4.99 a month, although Google has not yet announced the official price.
Presumably, there will be a separate section for Play Pass in the Play Store where users can browse through the selection. Purple text indicates if an individual app or game is part of the Play Pass service as you can see in the screenshot above. The subscription also includes all in-app purchases of apps and games.
The Play Pass seems to focus primarily on gamers. The Google Play store has been known for the fact that gamers do not like to pay for their games, so developers try to earn money through advertisements or in-game purchases.
