Huawei says its Harmony OS system will work with all smart devices from now on. From phones to tablets, smartwatches, and smart TVs. Harmony OS can smartly make all these types of devices work together as one.
Huawei continues with the development of its Harmony OS. The operating system is now ready to work on all different types of smart devices. That says the Chinese brand during an online launch event.
One of the strong aspects of Harmony is that all devices run on the same software, and can therefore work together smartly. Suppose you want to make a video with your phone, then you basically only have the camera of your phone in your pocket. Harmony’s ‘DSoftbus’ feature allows other devices to help capture the image from different angles at the same time.
The collaboration between all devices makes them ‘super devices’, as Huawei calls it. There is an easy connection assistant that allows you to connect devices with each other. On your phone, you can see all the smart devices around you in icons, and you drag the smart device you want to work with towards your phone. Although Harmony OS devices can also connect with a tap with NFC.
Harmony OS also gets a new Control Panel that is reminiscent of the quick settings of Android but in appearance more similar to iOS. The settings are divided over several panels with handy buttons such as volume control, a separate media player, and a section from which you can manage all smart home devices.
The new operating system will also work with its own form of widgets that app developers can create. you can also merge multiple apps into a folder, then the operating system itself gives the folder an appropriate name, based on the apps you have added.
Huawei wants to give its operating system a boost thanks to the distribution of OpenHarmony. Developers can now work with the operating system themselves to make their own devices compatible, and this is how Huawei wants to grow Harmony. In this way, you will soon be able to connect your Harmony phone with multiple compatible devices in your house to make it a so-called super device.
Huawei also presented the Watch 3 which is Huawei’s first watch with Harmony OS. The other flagship device that HarmonyOS presented is Huawei MatePad Pro 12.6. The company also came out with the FreeBuds 4 earphones.
