There have been several reports appearing on the internet lately about Huawei being working on a concept phone. According to the reports, the concept phone won’t feature many of the physical hardware components that a smartphone usually have. It may not have a built-in camera and a speaker but will instead come with it in form of accessories.
The upcoming concept phone from Huawei will feature a curved screen designed by Samsung. The most exciting feature of the concept phone is the inclusion of the Huawei’s new super fast battery with Graphene-Assisted battery technology which Huawei claims can be charged up to 50% in just 5-minutes. There is no word on the battery size yet. In the past, we have also seen a report claiming the phone will have a screen curved on four sides.
The earlier reports suggested that the concept phone from Huawei will be released under the Huawei brand but yesterday a Chinese insider Kevin King has claimed on Weibo that the concept phone will be released under Huawei’s sub-brand Honor. This decision by Huawei is understandable as Huawei has recently released two phones with curved displays, the luxury Mate 9 Porsche and Mate 9 Pro. Huawei does not want the concept phone to compete directly with the Mate 9 Porsche and Mate 9 Pro. The Huawei’s Honor brand has got a lot of recognition due to the success of the Honor 8, Huawei might want to build on that success.
As for the launch date of the concept phone, it’s not far. The concept phone will be unveiled today i.e the 7th of December. Let’s see how successful a phone with no built-in camera and speaker can be in the year 2016.
