Apologies for the title, It was just for fun and a little clickbait. The statement has a slice bit of truth though. The story is that recently, a Chinese woman returned the iPhone X because her iPhone X was easily unlocked by her colleagues. Some Internet users joked that for iPhone X, every Chinese looks the same.

Chinese Woman Unlock Her Colleague’s iPhone X Using Her Face

According to South China Morning Post, the Chinese woman Yan called Apple’s customer service center hotline but Apple did not believe what she said. Frustrated, she and her colleague traveled to the nearby Apple Store and showed the face recognition software problems they were facing to the rep. Apple store representative witnessed the problem and decided to refund the lady.

The lady told Jiangsu Radio that after her purchase of iPhone X, she set up facial recognition software as instructed in the instructions, but her colleague was able to easily unlock her phone with her face when she tested the feature.

Later, the lady purchased another iPhone X and reconfigured facial recognition software again, but the phone failed again. Her colleague could still unlock the phone. So the Apple store clerk made a refund for her again.

Not The First Time Apple iPhone X’s Face ID Has Been Cheated

It should be noted that this is not the first time that people were able to cheat the iPhone X’s facial recognition. Earlier we have seen videos of twins unlocking their iPhone X’s successfully with each other’s faces. There is also a video of a teenage son unlocking his mom’ iPhone with his face.

It should also be noted that Apple has been very vocal and confident about how secure and reliable the Face ID is. Apple claimed that the probability of a random person successfully unlocking another person’s iPhone X using the Face ID is  1 in 1,000,000 in contrast to the Toch ID where the probability is 1 in 50,000. While Apple might be right on their first claim but to claim that  Face ID is twice as secure as the Touch ID is bizarre.
