LG has officially announced the LG G8X ThinQ along with a Dual Screen case just like the LG V50 ThinQ. If you place the G8X in the Dual Screen case, the screen of the smartphone expands to the Dual Screen.
LG G8X ThinQ With Dual Screen
The LG G8 series currently consists of the LG G8 ThinQ and the cheaper LG G8s ThinQ. Now at the IFA, the LG G8X ThinQ has been added. You can use the Dual Screen for multitasking and videos on a large screen.
The LG G8X ThinQ has a 6.4-inch FHD OLED FullVision screen (2340 by 1080 pixels) with a waterdrop notch and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor and has 6 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage. The storage is further expandable to 2 TB via microSD card. It also has a 4000 mAh battery that is charged with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast-charging technology.
The phone has three cameras in total. At the rear, there is a 12 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture, and a 13 MP Wide-Angle camera with an f/2.4 aperture. There is a 32-megapixel selfie camera with a pixel size of 1.6 µm and a Reflector Mode with which you can take better selfies in poorly lit rooms.
AI Action Shot is based on artificial intelligence and improves the photos if the subject is on the move. This is ideal for taking pictures of children or pets playing. There is also a 4K Timelaps function that allows you to create timelapse videos in 4K quality. LG Steady Cam ensures efficient image stabilization. You can now also switch between the selfie camera and the rear cameras while making videos on the G8X for the first time.
In terms of sound, the options are very similar to those of the G8 ThinQ. There is 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, DTS-X 3D Surround Sound, and Meridian audio amplification.
The phone runs on Android 9.0 Pie and has USB-C, NFC, Bluetooth 5 and support for HDR10. The phone is water and dust resistant through the IP68 certification and also meets the strict military standard MIL-STD 810G. This means that it is resistant to all kinds of liquids, dust, oil, fog, vibrations, and shocks. On the side, there is again a special Google Assistant button.
The Dual Screen consists of a 2.1-inch mono Cover Display and a 6.4-inch FHD OLED FullVision display on the inside. The smartphone screen is expanded on the second screen as soon as you click the LG G8x ThinkQ inside the dual-screen case. You can also choose to set one of the screens as the main screen. In the video, you can see exactly how this works.
You can rotate the Dual Screen 360 degrees so that you can look at a larger screen surface from any angle.
