HMD Global has just announced the Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 at IFA. With this interesting mid-range and budget smartphones, Nokia uses its well-known formula: design, good performance and the best of Google.
The Nokia 7.2 is the new mid-range smartphone from HMD Global and has very attractive specifications for its price. The device has a matte finish at the back that ensures that there will be a lot less greasy fingerprints. The green ones, in particular, have stolen my heart.
On the front, the 7.2 has a 6.3-inch PureDisplay with a waterdrop notch and a Full HD resolution. The PureDisplay uses technology that will upscale Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) to High Dynamic Range (HDR), making the screen look even more beautiful.
The Nokia 7.2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with 6 GB memory and 128 GB storage memory, which can be expanded with a MicroSD card. We don’t know what the exact battery capacity is, but Nokia says it can last two days in one charge. Our guess is 3500mAh
The main camera is the well-known 48-megapixel sensor from Sony, which we often encounter these days. In addition, the Nokia 7.2 has two additional sensors: an 8 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP that serves as a depth sensor. At the front, we find a 20 MP selfie camera.
Thanks to the collaboration with ZEISS, the camera app has also been upgraded so that portrait photos use the ZEISS bokeh effect, but the focus is also on photos in lesser lighting conditions. For example, the Nokia 7.2 can take 8 to 10 photos at a time via night mode, which it then combines for a more qualitative photo. You can even take up to 20 photos in night mode while using a tripod.
The nice thing about Nokia is of course that they have a very good relationship with Google. They do not use their own software skin, but the Android One software from Google. That also means that this device will come with Android 10 and is guaranteed to get 2 years of system updates and three years of security updates.
In addition, the Nokia 7.2 also has a dedicated button on the side for Google Assistant. When you hang the smartphone on the charger, the device transforms into a smart speaker.
The Nokia 6.2 is the new budget smartphone from HMD Global. Nokia 6.2 for the first time brings a triple camera setup to their budget segment. This consists of a 16-megapixel main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide and a 5 MP depth sensor. In addition, as with the 7.2, the smartphone also uses the ZEIS Optics and AI to improve photo quality.
Just like the Nokia 7.2, the Nokia 6.2 has a 6.3-inch PureDisplay with a waterdrop notch and a Full HD resolution. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 with 4 GB of memory must provide the necessary power and there is 64 GB of storage memory, which can be expanded with a MicroSD card. There is a 3,500 mAh battery that, just like with the Nokia 7.2, must ensure that you can continue two days on one charge.
Nokia makes no difference between 7.2 and 6.2 when it comes to software. The Nokia 6.2 will also be delivered from the box with Android 10, with the well-known Android One software. The Nokia 6.2 also has a dedicated button to launch the Google Assistant and will be able to transform itself into a smart speaker when you hang the device on the charger.
