Red Dead Online New Changes And Content
About six months after the launch, Red Dead Online finally slips out of beta and brings a big content update (1.09). New additions include additional co-op missions, poker, and different game styles.
New Co-op Missions
The continuation of the “One Land of Opportunities” story was one of the most desirable features of the community. In the new missions you have the choice between two alternative action paths:
- Gunslingers Path (Honorable)
- Outlaw path (dishonorable)
Both storylines lead to a duel with a villain in the city of Blackwater.
Another feature that the community has been calling for. There are now poker tables distributed in the game world where up to six players can gamble for virtual money.
- Flatneck station
Play styles (offensive and defensive)
This innovation is especially likely to appeal to those who want to explore the game world in Red Dead Online undisturbed without having other aggressive players getting on their nerves. It is a kind of “passive mode” as it is in GTA Online .
Generally there are two different styles of play:
- Offensive: By default, you can attack other players normally, but of course you will be punished accordingly.
- Defensive: When this style is activated, you take less damage and can not be automatically targeted or lassoed.
Update for the Hostility System
Griefing has been a big problem in the history of Red Dead Online so far, and the reworked system of hostility wants to further minimize this problem by building on existing concepts.
Existing System: Players who regularly and repeatedly kill other players on the map are marked as a corresponding color point on the map, where red is the “worst” expression, light red indicates an enemy.
New Features: you will no longer be punished for defending yourself against an enemy with a high level of hostility. In addition, you are only marked as the enemy for someone you kill, not for all players. Aggressive players return much further from their dying point than less aggressive players.
New foreign missions
You can now deal with more NPCs marked on the map, they will be indicated by a question mark on the map. These include a ship’s captain or a pig farmer, for which you literally have to do the dirty work.
More missions and challenges
In addition to the alien missions, there are also other event innovations on the map that you can tackle alone or with your posse.
- New squad against squad challenges: Biggest catch, bird hunting, and herb picking
- Dynamic Events: Within the game world, you will now encounter even more NPCs who need your help, rewarding you with XP, money, honor, and gold.
- New showdown mode “Overrun”
In addition to major adjustments, Rockstar is also reviewing the balancing and control options in Red Dead Online:
- Targeting for headers has been removed.
- The speed of changing weapons has been increased.
- There is a new control option “FPS2”.
- You can now choose which horses you want to use in which modes by default.
- Higher gold distribution in all activities.
Actually, you need a running PlayStation Plus (and Xbox Live) membership for the Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer. From now on, RDO is also accessible to players without a PS Plus subscription. At least for a short time.
Non-PS Plus members can participate in Red Dead Online until May 27, 2019.
Players receive a cheaper PS Plus subscription
To keep you on the ball, Rockstar and PlayStation have a special PlayStation Plus deal for you.
RDO players receive a 20% discount on a new PS Plus subscription. In addition, there are 10 gold bars per month for the duration of the purchased membership. Incidentally, behind the gold bars hides the premium currency of the game, which otherwise can only be purchased via real money.
This offer is valid until 3 June 2019.
More PS4-Exclusive content promised
That’s not all. Rockstar also announced that PS4 players will once again receive early-access content. In other words, anyone who plays Red Dead Online on PS4 will receive certain items earlier than Xbox One owners.
