The Sony Xperia XZ3 is a smartphone that has been subject to many leaks. Today, just before the opening of the exhibition halls at IFA 2018, the premiere of the new flagship of the Japanese took place. This is the first Xperia that got the OLED screen. Sony has introduced some interesting new features in the new smartphone.
Sony keeps its high pace in the field of smartphones. A new high-end phone comes out every six months. The latest addition is the Sony Xperia XZ3. Sony Xperia XZ3 is shown today during the event in Berlin, where the IFA 2018 fair starts tomorrow. This phone is the successor to the XZ2 series that we saw during the MWC in Barcelona. Exactly a year ago Sony came up with the XZ1 and XZ1 Compact. The XZ3 builds on the so-called borderless appearance of the XZ2. Here the square appearance that we have known all those years of has been thrown overboard for something more modern with an 18: 9 screen. Now it is time for refinement of this concept. This will be one of the first models pre-installed with Android 9 Pie.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Design
The Sony Xperia XZ3 has a design that we have already seen on Onleaks renders. The XZ3 has rounded corners on the side so the device should be better in the hand. In addition, there is curved 3D glass, which is present on both the front and back. The back is made of glass, which should provide a premium feel but is more fragile than metal. There is no notch on the device, where we have seen so many in 2018. The small bezels can still accommodate speakers. These new speakers at the front provide a 20% more volume than previous models.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Artificial Intelligence
The side has received a new feature called Side sense. Tap anywhere on the side of your screen twice, and a pop-up menu will appear. In this menu, AI will display apps and options to navigate through the smartphone. For example, these apps will be your last used or predicted apps. You can also zoom in on photos with one hand or easily return to the previous screen. All this should make using one hand use a lot easier on the large 6.0-inch screen. An interesting feature is also Smart launch. This is responsible for the instantaneous launch of the camera after removing the smartphone from the pocket in a horizontal position.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Display
The screen is an OLED one, a first for Sony. It is a 6-inch display with a 2880 x 1440 resolution, QHD+. Here Sony makes use of Bravia TV technology and HDR to show the colors even better. Also, thanks to a technique called ‘X-Reality for mobile’, online videos on the screen can be converted to almost HDR quality. HDR stands for High Dynamic Range, where the difference between the darkest and lightest point is made higher for higher contrast.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Camera
There is a 19MP single main camera on the back, while a 13MP one at the front ensures selfies. This selfie camera now also has a portrait mode where the bokeh effect can be simulated. This keeps the foreground sharp and blurs the background.
This main camera can make videos in 4K HDR and record slow-motion in 960 fps. Scanning your face in 3D is also possible, as with the previous generations.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Specifications
Sony has again applied high-end specifications, just like the XZ2. The Snapdragon 845 is located under the hood, together with 4GB of memory and 64GB of internal memory. The device is also both IP65 and IP68 certified, where the appliance also does not shrink when sprayed with water.
The battery is a 3.330 mAh model where you can easily get through the day according to Sony. Here you are helped by some energy-saving features such as STAMINA mode and Battery Care. With this last function, your smartphone will be charged up to 90% and only to 100% just before you wake up. This is better for the battery in the long term since the device has to hold the high voltage of 100% less. The glass back also ensures that wireless charging is possible.
