A man managed to run the new Windows 11 preview version on a six-year-old Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. This gives us an idea of how the software should work on smaller screens.
Windows 11 on a Lumia 950 XL
Microsoft introduced its Windows 11 operating system last week, and it came with the surprise that the system could run Android apps. The preview version of the operating system is now out, and in the video below we see how a man gets the Windows 11 to work on a Lumia 950 XL from 2015, a Windows Phone. The smartphone hit the market with a Snapdragon 810 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
It is clear that the Snapdragon 810, the generation that by the way had problems with overheating and disappointing performance, is struggling to run the operating system smoothly. But despite delays, it works.
Criticism of Microsoft
The man uses the ARM build of Windows 11, and we see how the software adapts its menus to the narrow smartphone screen. The interface tilts when the Lumia phone is turned, and multitasking also works. It is not yet possible to run Android apps on the preview versions of Windows 11, so that is a feature that we cannot see at work on the Lumia 950 XL yet. But the fact that a six years old Windows phone can run a full-fledged Windows 11 is incredible.
Well this man’s lucky Lumia 950 XL is ready for the Windows 11 but is your PC ready for it? Check this article to find out.
