A few days ago we share with you leaked photos showing the Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano, the alleged smaller version of the head turning Mi Mix. We were very excited for that device as the 6.4″ screen is too big for us no matter how excellent job Xiaomi has done removing the bezel. We hoped for a smaller version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix and the rumors and leaked photos of the alleged smaller version of Mi Mix made us very excited. Looks like that exciting period is over as today Xiaomi’s marketing director Zang Zhiyuan has denied the existence of any such product.
On his Weibo account, Zang Zhiyuan wrote, “There’s no such product as Xiaomi Mi Mix Nano, there’s a brand using ‘low-level trick’ to do sales.” As you can see in the Weibo post, Zang Zhiyuan mentioned a competitor who is trying to hijack the popularity of the Xiaomi’s bezel-less phone. Who could that competitor be? Earlier we have also seen another bezel-less phone which the leak says is from Meizu. No matter who that be, they made us very excited only to disappoint us. We are still confused who to believe. The rumors of Xiaomi Mi Mix could have hurt the sales of the original Mi Mix, so there is a possibility that the Xiaomi marketing manager may have lied to save the sales of 6.4″ Mi Mix. We don’t know who to believe just now.
What Xiaomi should have done before launching the Mi Mix is to increase their production capacity. If they can’t, they should outsource the production to other manufacturers such as Foxconn. Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix could have won them a lot of market share in China and around the world.
