This year, Google decided to release beta versions of its new Android version i.e Android P for a larger range of devices, including one Xiaomi, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S.
While this time Mi users might enjoy early Android P software, they will have to settle for the MIUI 9. This does not mean Mix 2S users will get the old boring MIUI 9 with the Android P. What’s so special about it? It brings a few major changes to the interface.
The new update has been marked with the number 8.5.11 and introduces many changes to the interface. Among other things, the lock screen has been refreshed, the notification panel and shortcuts to quick settings, the multitasking screen, as well as the volume panel has been redesigned. I must point out that these are not all the changes. You can see the new look in the following screenshots:
As you can see from the screenshots, the UI looks gorgeous. Xiaomi took Google’s Android P UI and made it look awesome. The quick settings have rounded toggles just like the latest Android P developer preview. The notifications have adopted a card like look with rounded corners.
The Volume bar can now be seen on the right just like the stock Android P but with a visual makeover. The recent apps screen has also been refreshed however it’s now the opposite of the stock Android. The opened apps are now organized in a vertical 2×2 card view. Previously Xiaomi used to set the apps in a horizontal manner while Google used to set them vertically overlapping each other.
I like how the new Xiaomi MIUI looks with those bold rounded toggles, a nice blur in the notifications menu. I wish they also include an option allowing the user to change the color accent of those toggles.
